Rugged Trails is excited to welcome experienced and novice yogis alike to our Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek! Combine the experience of trekking on one of the planet’s most well-known and scenic routes with the spiritual practice of yoga. Deepen your understanding of the natural world while further developing yourself and your spirit.

Spend days hiking towards the top of the world, disconnecting from your devices, and becoming closer to your inner self. Listen to nothing more than your own footsteps and the wind as you follow the peaceful trail up to Everest Base Camp (5364 metres). This trip is a life-changer. Enter Sagarmatha National Park and feel a special energy. In fact, Sagarmatha National Park has been deemed a natural World Heritage Site of Nepal. In addition, yoga has been listed as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Combining the two provides the experience of a lifetime.

Each day begins with meditation, pranayama, and asana practice, followed by a delicious and filling breakfast prepared by the local Sherpa people. To start the day this way is to have a refreshed and self-reflective consciousness throughout the day. Let your eyes wander from peak to peak, acknowledging their beauty. Watch your breath be taken away by their sheer beauty. Become present in each passing moment as you are detached from the outside world.

Rugged Trails' Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek has been featured in Red Bull’s article “The Nine Coolest Yoga Spots in the World”!

18-Day Everest Base Camp Yoga Trekking 2024 and 2025 via Gokyo Lakes

Upon arrival at the tea house each night, have a rest and then again flow through an asana practice to facilitate growth and healing for our mind and spirit. Not only will the practice of yoga be beneficial for our mind and spirit during the trek, but it will also help our bodies stay healthy and prevent soreness. After dinner, guided meditation and/or satsang are offered before resting for the night.

After some days of climbing through the thinning air, reach Gokyo Valley, where five sacred lakes lie next to the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. The aquamarine-colored bodies of water are something out of this world. The scene gets better as we summit Gokyo Ri (5360 metres), a towering lookout above the village. From here, the early morning hike brings you to heart-stopping views of Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taboche, and Mount Everest.

Reaching the base of Mount Everest is, of course, a major highlight of the trek. An even better viewpoint, though, lies at Kala Patthar (5545 metres), also the highest point of the trek. From here, you can see several of the highest peaks in the world. Focus your attention on Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and more sky-high peaks.
While you are not doing yoga or hiking, spend some time interacting with the locals, who belong to the Sherpa ethnic group. They are a peaceful group of people and are devoted to Tibetan Buddhism. Signs and shrines of Buddhism, including chhortens, mani walls, prayer flags, and monasteries, are scattered throughout the trail.
Our licensed guides are well experienced in the Everest region and ensure that the group is safe and informed on environmental conditions. Our certified yoga teacher will guide you through your yoga practice each day with the aim of inspiring you to watch and value every breath and deepen yourself into the magical land of the Everest region.

The Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek is a profound experience. It will be cherished for the rest of your days, and we hope that the realizations that you make during the journey will enrich you for the rest of your life. Please ask us if you have any questions about the trip! Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek bookings are open for October 2024, April 2024, and October 2024! and Nepal is open for all kinds of treks and tour activities.

Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self. "The Bhagavad Gita"

Why should you join the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek?

Despite the fact that yoga is practiced all throughout the world under many titles, like "goat yoga," "wine yoga," and other variations, we only have knowledge of the traditional kind of yoga that we use in our yogic area. Just the sight of the yoga made you pause and check out the yoga trek package, which indicates that this trip is unique. Although it feels unusual to walk on a yoga mat in a concrete city, try imagining yourself doing it while surrounded by the Himalayas. According to legend, yogis and even the ADI-Yogi (Lord Shiva) traversed the Himalayas via a yogic path. You may trek in nature while studying yoga and meditation on a novel experience called the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek.

What was the inspiration for the Everest Yoga Trek?

Once yoga gained popularity worldwide, certain photographs of yoga positions taken in the Himalayas inspired us to organise a yoga event on Mount Everest. The credit for presenting yoga to the world belongs to Swami Ram Dev, SadhGuru. For the first time ever, Rugged Trails introduced an 18-day yoga trek to Everest Base Camp through the Gokyo Valley. Subsequently, several businesses just copied the itinerary and advertised it as a yoga trek to Everest. It's funny how some businesses copied and duplicated every word from our website onto their own. Trekking in Nepal can undoubtedly relieve your suffering and bring you great joy, but we also practiced yoga and meditation to help us discover a spiritual path for this lifetime. You will notice improvements in your life that will benefit the rest of your life in 17 nights and 18 days. We have a lot of inspiring tales of how people's lives were transformed by this journey. Healing in the Himalayas!

When is the best time for the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek?

The greatest times for the 18-day Everest Yoga Trek are in the spring, in April, and in the fall, in October. For this reason, we offer two departure dates. We have chosen the most ideal season since the weather is better at this time of year. Check our departure dates to book this trek for 2024 and 2025

How does the package for the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek operate?

Scroll down to discover the day-by-day trek schedule for the complete travel plan. We need a minimum of 7 individuals in our group in order to organize this entire yoga tour. The maximum number is 13 people. One yoga instructor, one guide, one sherpa, and porters are present to help you with your stuff. Everyone is welcome to participate in this walk, regardless of location, race, or gender. But here, the age restriction is strictly 15 to 60.

Food and Accommodations on Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek

We can't guarantee you a stay in a five-star hotel or a lunch at a fine dining establishment, but we can guarantee you'll forget about these things for a few days. Delicious menu items, including pizza, pasta, Nepalese, and Tibetan foods, may be ordered. While we advise against eating meat on this trip, eggs will be available regardless of whether you choose to do so because you need calories. The traditional heating system will keep the dining area cozy, and the rooms will be spotless and furnished with soft blankets. If there are any complaints regarding the cuisine or our services, you may look at our reviews on Google and TripAdvisor. Rooms will be shared by two people in one room during the trip, but in the cities and some places, we can provide a single (cost extra).

Will the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek include daily yoga sessions?

Yes, we will do yoga every day; however, once we reach Everest Base Camp from Gokyo Valley, we will just perform breathing and meditation. We won't have enough time for 2-3 days because we'll be walking quite a distance. Depending on the location and the weather, we will practice yoga both indoors and outdoors. There are plenty of things to do around Namche Bazaar, We wake up to another spectacular morning with a view from our room and sun rising over the breathtaking mountains. Let us clear something up that is a big misunderstanding about the Acclimatization day. Acclimatization day is not a rest day, it is something completely different so don’t think that after the huge climb of getting into Namche Bazaar you’ll spend today lazing around the lodges or shopping in local stores. Our team will take you to explore the real charm of Namche Bazaar. So after breakfast, we will start the gentle hike up to Everest view hotel where we can see the views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and so on. We will do yoga practice at the top of Namche valley and the Everest at the backdrop. Overnight at Namche. Morning Yoga at the Namche Top and evening at the Monastery. Day hike up to 3,700 m (12,139 ft)

Namche is the last stop where you can buy all the necessary things if you have forgotten anything. Strolling around Namche is also a nice way to spend days and there are some monasteries where we try to manage an evening yoga spot.

FAQs

What Is The Difficulty Level Of The Everest Trek?

The Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek typically ranges from moderate to challenging since we are going through Gokyo Lakes and will be crossing Cho La Pass. You'll be trekking for several hours each day, ascending and descending through diverse terrain, including forests, valleys, and rocky trails. While you don't need to be a seasoned mountaineer, good physical fitness and prior trekking experience are recommended for this challenging 18-day yoga trek.

Who Created The Everest Yoga Trek Package?

Honeslty Rugged Trails Nepal is the first adventure company to introduce the 18-day Yoga and Trekking Package in the Everest Region. We were listed on RedBull as "the world's craziest yoga spots." Later, other trek planners started selling the yoga trek package to Everest Base Camp. Some trekking companies simply copied our whole content without changing a single word on their website, and now they have changed the plan for the 14-day Everest Yoga Trek.

Is Yoga Experience Necessary For The Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek?

No, you don't need to be a yoga master to join the trek! On this yoga journey, we are offering beginner-friendly yoga sessions before or after each day's hike. These sessions focus on stretching, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices designed to improve flexibility, reduce altitude sickness, and enhance your overall trekking experience.

What Kind Of Yoga Is Practiced On The Everest Yoga Trek?

Everest Yoga Trek incorporates Vinyasa yoga, a dynamic style that synchronizes movement with breath and is adaptable to different fitness levels. Some programs might also include Hatha yoga for deeper stretches and relaxation, or even meditation sessions for inner peace amidst the mountain grandeur.

What Is The Typical Accommodation Like?

You'll likely stay in comfortable teahouses and lodges along the trek. These offer basic but clean rooms with shared bathrooms and delicious local meals. Most of the teahouses have stunning views of the mountains, providing a truly immersive experience.

What Kind Of Gear Do I Need For Everest Yoga Trek?

For the Everest Yoga Trek, you'll need sturdy hiking boots, layered clothing for diverse weather conditions, a sleeping bag (optional), and a daypack. Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and plenty of water bottles. For your yoga practice, comfortable clothing with good flexibility is recommended, as is your own yoga mat.

What Is The Best Time For To Go For The Everest Yoga Trek?

We have picked the best time of the year for the Everest Yoga Journey; fixed departure dates are set for April and October. The trekking season in Nepal typically runs from March to May and from September to November. During these months, the weather is generally pleasant, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. However, keep in mind that the peak season (April, May, and October) can get crowded.

Why The Everest Yoga Trek Expensive Than Other Operators?

The way we arrange the team, nobody has done it like us. We will have a private yoga instructor, a sherpa guide, assistant sherpas, and porters, whereas other companies like Yoga Trek are only led by the yoga instructor. Our previous yoga trek also had a photographer to learn photography skills and capture the best moments during the trip. The cost of the Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek can vary depending on the length of the program, group size, chosen operator, and additional services like pooja ceremonies in Kathmandu. Expect to pay anywhere from $2,000 to $2,500 or more, with all-inclusive packages offering the best value.

What Are The Risks And Challenges On This Trek?

Altitude sickness is a common challenge on the trek, as you'll be ascending to high altitudes. Listen to your body, acclimatize properly, and consult your doctor if necessary. Other potential risks include weather changes, injuries, and cultural differences. Be prepared with adequate insurance and flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. To make journey easier and flexible we will be doing breathing practice from Kathmandu.

What Are The Rewards Of The Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek?

The Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek is an unforgettable journey that will challenge your physical and mental limits, connect you with nature's beauty, and offer profound inner peace. You'll return home with stunning memories, newfound strength, and a deeper appreciation for the Himalayas and the transformative power of yoga. Remember, the 18-Day Everest Base Camp Yoga Trek is not just about reaching the base camp; it's about the journey itself. Embrace the challenges, savor the moments, and allow yourself to be transformed by the magic of the Himalayas.

Useful Information

Everest Yoga Trek Trip Note

  • If there are less than 7 members, the yoga trek will be cancelled, or normal trekking will be made at the normal price.
  • In some cases, Rugged Trails Nepal will organise the Everest Yoga Trek on classic routes.
  • Kathmandu-Lulkla or Lukla-Kathmandu flights may be cancelled due to the bad weather; we request that you add an extra buffer day if possible!
  • Make sure and be mentally prepared; this is a group trip, and you must follow certain rules and guidelines.

Passport / visa
A valid permit is required for most areas in Nepal, which we will obtain upon your arrival. We will require two working days and two passport-size photographs. There are two major permits, which are National Park permits and special regional permits for restricted area permits (Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Dolpa, etc.).

Important information
Always carry Nepalese rupees in small bills on your trek. The amount of care depends on the area and the duration of the trek. A guideline for this will be presented during our trek briefing. The money will only be required for the purchase of soft or hard bottled drinks and souvenirs along the way. Other money and valuables should be kept in a safe deposit box in your hotel in Kathmandu.

Altitude sickness is a serious consideration if you are climbing or trekking in Nepal, and it is essential that you investigate the causes, symptoms, and treatment of altitude sickness before you travel to Nepal. There are approximately three deaths per year in Nepal from altitude sickness, but with the right precautions, there is no reason why you should become one of these statistics.

Acclimatisation is the word used to describe the adjustments your body makes as it ascends. You should adjust your schedule so that you average no more than 400 metres per day of ascent above 3,000 metres. If you fail to allow time for acclimatization, you may develop symptoms of the Attitude Mountaineering System. The AMS may be mild enough to go away with a day of rest or, if ignored, may lead to death. All that is required to ensure a safe trek is basic awareness of AMS and a willingness to rest or descend if you develop symptoms. As a result of the growing awareness of altitude problems, there is only one death from AMS in Nepal out of every 30,000 trekkers and climbers. Even these deaths would be avoidable if everyone knew how to respond to AMS. There are no reliable figures for casualties among porters.

  • Great Guides For Our Everest 3 Passes Trek

    - Harrie Van de Linde, Australia

Great small trekking company with lots of knowledge about the area. Indra and Mekraj were great guides for our 3 passes trek for 14 days. They have done it many times before, so they know the lodges and where the great food is. We went in the off-season (Nov–Dec), so lots of lodges were very quiet and felt homely.
Most of our group used porters for some of our gear, which helped a lot during the strenuous days of the trip.
Overall, I would recommend a company like this over the bigger groups such as Intreped, as it can be altered as you go for your own pace and interests rather than a very set route and schedule.

  • Solo Trekking In the Himalaya Everest Three Passes

    - Georgia, Austria

Thank you, Rugged Trails, for helping me to feel every emotion a human being has ever felt and for locating all the hiking supplies—even shoes—at the last minute in Kathmandu. Thank you, Nirajan, Indra, Harka, and all the lovely people of Nepal, for making it a perfectly organized and super-safe adventure. Thank you for putting up with all my feelings and random requests for ginger-lemon tea.

  • Short Everest View Trek and Kathmandu

    - Mariana, Colombia

I was traveling as a solo woman and Rugged Trails Nepal organized my trekking trip to Tengboche (short Everest view trek) and a couple of city tours in Kathmandu. Indra was my guide during my trekking trip and he was the most helpful and nice person. Nirajan made my travel experience a really good one and help me with everything that I asked for. I completely recommend this agency for any trekking trip in the Himalayas and for a solo woman.
