An ancient 20 days Edmund Hillary classic high altitude trek recommended for the very fit with previous experience of high altitude trekking. The trekker will be highly rewarded for his/her efforts with spectacular views of Everest, Makalu Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. Leaving Kathmandu we start our trek at Bhandar. Passing through meadows, then forest and scrub, we cross the Likhu River, via a steel chain suspension bridge, to reach the site. Crossing the lam Jura ridge, we reach Jun Besi. Taksind, with its isolated monastery, is next, then the Sherpa village of Khari Khola climbing for most of the day to reach the top of Bumpass ridge (10300ft) and Puiyan, there is a long descent to surkhe and then we climb again to Phakding. Crossing the Dudh Koshi River four times. A steep ascent to Namche bazaar is made. From here the trail passes through many Sherpa towards we have superb views.
Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek will take you to Namche Bazaar which is popular with trekkers. Mostly used for altitude acclimatization where people stay for a night or two to acclimatize themselves to the thinning oxygen levels in the air, this is also a getaway to most of the treks to Base Camp and other Expedition in this area. The town has a number of lodgings and stores catering to the needs of visitors as well as a number of internet cafes, making it on few places in the region where trekkers can access the internet. The trek will also take you to Khumjung which is another famous village in this area. Khumjung village is located in the Khumbu region of Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site. It lies at the elevation of 3970m above sea level and situated near Mt. Khumbila (5761m.) which is believed to be a sacred mountain and thus no attempts to climb this mountain are made.
A monastery in Khumjung also boasts of having a Yeti scalp and is one of the attractions in this village. With communication such as the internet and mobiles available, this village is one of the main attractions in this region. With Everest View Hotel 3880 m, which is the highest located hotel in the world and commands a spectacular view of Mt. Everest (8,848 m.)
Another major highlight of this trip is Kala Patthar which in Nepali means Black Rock. The name is given to a mountain that lies below Mt. Pumori and gives one of the best views of the famous Mt. Everest. This place is also famous since the Mt. Everest can be seen from base camp to the peak which otherwise is not possible even from the base camp. The views of Everest and Nuptse are spectacular from Kala Patthar and there are glimpses of the northern flank of Lhotse. The world's highest webcam, Mt. Everest Webcam, is located here. Many of the tourists who come for the Everest Base Camp hiking visit Kala Patthar which lies at the elevation of 5164m which in itself is a feat and can be taken as a minor summit.
And of course, there is Everest Base Camp our final spot for the trekking Everest Base Camp lies at the elevation of 5364m. For many years this site has been used by the climbers who are on their way to summit Mt. Everest and Rugged Trails Nepal will help you to reach the base camp through the footsteps of Hillary where it all started.

Great Guides For Our Everest 3 Passes Trek
- Harrie Van de Linde, AustraliaGreat small trekking company with lots of knowledge about the area. Indra and Mekraj were great guides for our 3 passes trek for 14 days. They have done it many times before, so they know the lodges and where the great food is. We went in the off-season (Nov–Dec), so lots of lodges were very quiet and felt homely.
Most of our group used porters for some of our gear, which helped a lot during the strenuous days of the trip.
Overall, I would recommend a company like this over the bigger groups such as Intreped, as it can be altered as you go for your own pace and interests rather than a very set route and schedule.Solo Trekking In the Himalaya Everest Three Passes
- Georgia, AustriaThank you, Rugged Trails, for helping me to feel every emotion a human being has ever felt and for locating all the hiking supplies—even shoes—at the last minute in Kathmandu. Thank you, Nirajan, Indra, Harka, and all the lovely people of Nepal, for making it a perfectly organized and super-safe adventure. Thank you for putting up with all my feelings and random requests for ginger-lemon tea.

Short Everest View Trek and Kathmandu
- Mariana, ColombiaI was traveling as a solo woman and Rugged Trails Nepal organized my trekking trip to Tengboche (short Everest view trek) and a couple of city tours in Kathmandu. Indra was my guide during my trekking trip and he was the most helpful and nice person. Nirajan made my travel experience a really good one and help me with everything that I asked for. I completely recommend this agency for any trekking trip in the Himalayas and for a solo woman.
