The Druk Path trek starts from Paro, ascending to a fortress in ruins (3,400 m). After crossing the 3,400m Jele La Pass, one arrives at Jele Dzong. The next day, climbing through the thick alpine forests and rhododendrons to a saddle at 3,590 m, one can see the enchanting views of Mount. Chomolhari (7,314 m). Our trek then follows the ridge to a saddle at 4,040 m, drops a bit, and follows the ridge back to Jangchu La Pass (4,180 m) with views of Mount. Jichu Drake (6,989 m), the peak representing the protective deity of Paro Valley.
The trail then passes through yak fields with rhododendron forests and beautiful Janetsho Lake. We take a short climb along the side of the ridge and then a short, steep descent to camp at 4,040 m, which is near Simkota Tsho Lake, famous for its trout. The following day begins with a gradual climb to a saddle at 4,180 m, crossing Phume la Pass (4,210 m) marked by prayer flags, where we can view Mount Gangkhar Puensum (7,541 m) and other Himalayan peaks. The trail then descends past Thujidrag Goemba, a meditation center hanging on the side of a precipitous rock face, continuing further through juniper trees to the campsite near Phajoding Goemba (3,870m), an important pilgrimage site.
Then the trekking trails get concluded, and one returns back to Kathmandu. If you are looking to hike around Bhutan and get into the incredible nature of this country, this trek is a great choice for you!
